Chemical etching uses acid to selectively remove metal and create hollow-cut openings through the entire plate — resulting in true open negative space that you can see through. Laser engraving, by contrast, only marks or recesses the surface without cutting all the way through. Our hollow-cut keychains are produced using precision chemical etching (also called photochemical machining), delivering intricate geometric patterns with clean, burr-free edges that laser alone cannot achieve at this scale.

Absolutely. Custom artwork is our specialty. Send us your design as a vector file (AI, SVG, PDF) or high-resolution PNG/JPG. Our engineering team will review it for etching feasibility — patterns need minimum bridge widths between openings to maintain structural integrity — and will advise on any adjustments needed. There's no extra charge for the design review. Simple logo outlines and geometric patterns are ideal candidates for hollow-cut etching.

The polished or brushed surface maintains its appearance even after extended pocket and bag carry. The hollow-cut pattern does not weaken the structural strength of the plate; the metal bridges are engineered to distribute load evenly. These pieces are designed to last years, not months.
